Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

Looking back…. On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. (January 22, 1973 was the day the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand in all 50 states.) Churches around the United States use the day to celebrate God’s gift of life, commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and commit themselves to protecting human life at every stage. Churches continue to recognize the third Sunday in January as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

OUR COMMITMENT….Sav-A-Life Shelby Inc. was founded by Jenny Doss after a personal tragedy with her newborn son Joshua. The Pregnancy Resource Center opened in November 10, 1985, less than one year after the President proclaimed the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. We continue our mission at Sav-A-Life Shelby as a pro-life, pro-love resource organization for developing a life culture beginning in Pelham, Alabama one person at a time. We continue serving our community with FREE services including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and pregnancy and parenting classes.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Wonderful are your works; my soul knows
it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately
woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were
formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”
Psalm 13-16
